Workers' Rights

Employment
Many people have barriers to employment due to lack of education, incarceration, trauma and displacement, untreated medical conditions, and/or language and cultural differences. Individuals may need certificates of relief from disabilities or certificates of good conduct and advice as to how to make use of these certificates with prospective employers.

Unemployment Insurance
Many people, having lost their jobs, are unaware of rights to unemployment benefits and often fail to follow through with the hearing requirements necessary to obtain them. Clients need legal information and representation at a variety of stages, including information regarding whether they have a good case, how to prepare for a hearing, how to subpoena witnesses, and the importance of complying with the strict time requirements for filings and notices to preserve the right to a hearing.
