Amou Mawien is a recent graduate of Morgan State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work in May 2025. She is currently preparing to apply to JD programs for fall 2026 and is eager to explore different areas of law to help guide her future legal career.
Amou brings with her valuable experience from previous roles with the Department of Aging and the National Coalition for the Homeless. She also volunteers regularly with the Global Shapers: Buffalo Hub, further demonstrating her commitment to community-centered service.
By interning at the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Amou hopes to gain firsthand insight into the daily life of attorneys and deepen her understanding of the legal system. Her interest in advocacy and justice is rooted in a desire to create meaningful change through both legal and social work perspectives. Outside of her professional pursuits, Amou enjoys reading and creative writing.
