About Us

Legal Aid provides legal assistance through four main Divisions: (1) the Civil Legal Services Unit assists individuals and families in a variety of civil legal matters that have a direct impact on their quality of life; (2) the Attorneys for Children Unit represents neglected, abused and other children at risk; (3) the Criminal Defense Unit defends individuals charged with crimes and violations; and (4)the Appeals and Post-Conviction Unit represents individuals convicted of crimes on appeal and other post-conviction matters.

Areas of Practice:

As a result of the resurgence of downtown Buffalo, the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo (Legal Aid), a501(c) non-profit organization, has lost its lease and is being forced to move to another location.

The relocation of our offices to 290 Main Street is a special opportunity to strengthen and enhance one of our community's most important teams by upgrading our technology and our environment in order to continue to provide the best possible legal services to so many who really need our help. This takes money. We are no longer able to depend solely on support from government agencies and grants, as we have in the past, to help our most vulnerable neighbors. We need your help. We need to ask for your support in order to assist and ensure a smooth transition.

Please consider making a one-time, tax deductible donation in support of Legal Aid and its good work for our neighbors in the Buffalo community. All contributions of $1,000 or more will be acknowledged by category on a plaque within the renovated offices, in our Annual Report and on the Bureau's website. You can make your donation by credit card using the above link or by check made payable to the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Inc.
