Buffalo, NY (May 2, 2017) – The New York Bar Foundation recently presented a grant of $10,000 to the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Inc. The grant will be used for translation services which will help the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Inc. expand its services and provide legal assistance in a variety of civil matters to indigent populations with limited English proficiency across Western New York.
“We are grateful to The New York Bar Foundation for its generous support which will allow us to expand our organization’s ability to serve those with language barriers navigate and negotiate a complex legal system,” said David Schopp, Executive Director, Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Inc.
In early 2017, The New York Bar Foundation allocated over $640,000 in grants to 98 programs across New York to assist in:
+ Increasing public understanding under the law;
+ Improving the justice system and the law;
+ Facilitating the delivery of legal services; and
+ Enhancing professional competence and ethics.
