The Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, Inc., is a charitable not-for-profit corporation founded in 1912 by community leaders to provide legal representation and advice to the poor of our community. A century later, the Bureau has provided advice, representation, or referral to thousands of persons in need. Our services are available to low-income individuals in Erie County who are unable to afford counsel.
We are supported by funding from county, state, and city governments, as well as through contributions from civic organizations, private foundations, and individual donors. We also receive the services of numerous volunteers and interns from the community and its educational institutions.
We represent low-income residents of Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties.
We provide legal assistance in a variety of criminal and civil matters including housing, matrimonial matters, bankruptcy, unemployment, and re-entry.
Our office is located in Downtown Buffalo in the Swan Tower at 290 Main Street, Suite 400.
